I question the directions listed. F.S. 291 is a deep rutted, rocky & no maintenance road. I turned around, even w/4WD. Steamboat Chamber has better directions: "Take East U.S. 40 to Dumont Lake Campground turn off (251/Buffalo Park Trail). Follow road past the campground and picnic area, turn left at Rabbit Ears Pass monument and follow signs to NFSR 311 (rough road; 4-wheel drive suggested). Continue approx. ¼ mile to NFSR 291 on right. Park and hike on road, which bears to the right."
Our 1st mountain hike, trail well maintained & outstanding views!!
Beautiful! Climbed up between the rocks for breathtaking views
I really like this hike but the last half mile gets very steep. Worth the hike for the amazing views.
A relatively easy hike but it gets hilly at parts.. The trail is very clear and easy to find all the way till you get to the bottom of the "ears". Once you get to the top,you can easily find a trail that goes to the east side of the rocks but be careful because the trail
at the top is slippery and narrow. I wouldnt recommend climbing the rocks because they look pretty weak.
