Such e beautiful hike, some really great fishing off of the rivers about a mile before you reach the lake, and spectacular fishing at the actual lake! Beware of moose and bears though!
in reply to other reviews this trial starts at Coral creek trail head off of long draw road. the trail starts and travels outside the parks boundaries. Spotted two moose at one of the several meadows along the way. If you are comfortable with unmainted trails commanche peak trail splits off to the right and once up top there are amazing views of the parks highest peaks.
Arrived around 8:20am at RMNP on a Thursday and there were plenty of spots left at the Bear Lake entrance. To get to Mirror Lake you go past Alberta falls. There is a V that you will come up on with Mills Lake and Black Lake to the left and The Loch Lake and Mirror Lake to the right. You hit The Loch lake first and it is beautiful. Once you continue up the trail you will hit Timberline falls- also an amazing view. Then you go up a steep incline of stairs (boulders) to get to Mirror lake. Sky Pond is about a quarter mile past Mirror and worth it. We stopped at Mills on the way down and our trip was 12 miles round trip! I have posted pictures! No snow on the ground yet. The aspens are yellow and are beautiful. Be advised there are quite a few steep inclines.
Relaxed, casual hike except for one part when you're going downhill towards the lake..we didn't do whole loop so we'd turned around and walked back up which was the tough part. Beautiful views of the peaks and mirror lake. Good hike to bring a dog
