The first mile was a little boring, a tease because you could hear the river but not see it. The last two miles were great near and over the river and small streams. Great waterfall at the end. The whole trip was A pretty forest green. We will come back with our dog next time, running water, shallow enough not to be scary. :)Mike Traxler1 day agoNicolette Hamlin1 day agohikingAwesome! Do this hike now! Beautiful time to see the lush greenery and wild flowers. It goes along the creek a lot and ends with a great waterfall. Not too heavy traffic. I'd do this again for sure!Tamara Chisholm2 days agoTamara Chisholm2 days agohikingGreat hike with the dogs.Merf D.6 days agohikingNick Lucci9 days agohikingAwesome hike for not too far out of winter park! My trail below goes too the waterfall, about 3 miles maybe a little more in from the first parking lot, there was parking closer that we hiked by but didn't know about it so we started from the bottom!Evan Robbins14 days agohikingWarm day, freezing cold water. Beautiful summer hike. Easy hike for the first 2/3s then it gets a bit more difficult. Runs along the creek most of the way, plus bonus waterfall at 3-3.5 miles in. Trails got a bit confusing time to time when you get towards the end due to there being multiple branches of the trail. No markers on the trail but it is worn enough to find your way. It's not an issue because they all lead to the same place. Found a bit of snow still even in July toward the end (80 something degrees).Ali Marie Geiman14 days agoBeautiful waterfall. Not too strenuous. A good impromptu half day hike. Follows creek the whole way; last half mile is particularly pretty. Numerous creek crossings.Les Pinion19 days agoBeautiful trails. I was intending to make it to Heart Lake but the terrain got to be a bit too challenging for my dog once we approached treeline. The trail does sort of disappear once you get towards the top but following the creek is all you need to do. I was charged and chased by a moose cow towards the bottom after getting a little too close for a picture. Scary end to the day but lesson learned!Jeanette Sander11 months agohikingA really nice out and back, wooded trailDeWayne Hansen1 year agosnowshoeingSnowshoe in the winter and hiked this trail in the summer.Nov 11 ,2002Jaime Caldwell1 year agohikingWas pretty true to hikers only, but there were a lot of people on the trail. Because it is out and back it was crowded. Moderate due to walking uphill and difficult terrain but overall not too difficult.Chuck Kuehn3 years agohikingGreat hike brought children 7 yrs old to 14 yrs old. 6 children total went to waterfall approximately 4 miles up. Great views mixture of conditions. A lot of water crossings will highly recommend Amber Hinson 3 years agohikingNice trail. Not too steep, not too easy. Took my dogs and they loved it because of the water and they could be off leash. I was only able to go 2 miles out before the trail got muddy and hard to follow so my trip was 4 miles total. Will check this trail out in the winter for snowshoeing!Kent Crews4 years agohikingThis is a pleasant out and back following Jim Creek. Good views, not steep, and a nice little cascade at 2 miles. My kids enjoyed it.
