Certainly not easy, esp trudging through the snow, but it's a nice hike. If u have snowshoes take them. 1,400ft + climb will get ur legs burning. Took me 3 hrs round trip. Yes, beautiful views from the top. Keep going till u get to the old mine.
Good trail. Did on a Saturday morning in early November when weather was great - 60 degrees. Took us a little over an hour for the 2.2 miles to the top with 9 & 11 year old daughters. Only saw 2 other people on trail so very quiet. Very steady climb and great views from top near the entrance to the mine.
Was a fine hike on a cold fall day. While the early alpine portion of the hike obscured the view it did keep the wind off of us. Like others said, this is a 4.5 mile up and back. There are some spectacular views during the last half mile of the climb.
Beautiful hike but it is NOT .8 miles. More like 5 out and back. Would recommend though, stunning views at the top!
Excellent trail, great view from the top!
Fredonia Gulch - Great trail with a steady incline. Enjoyed how quiet this trail was. I would rank it as moderate. The info on the route here is also incorrect - it was about 2.2 miles to the top (4.4 roundtrip). The views at the top are spectacular, there's an old mine there. The entire hike is on a wide old mining road, but there is some shade along the way. Open to hikers, bikers, and horses. A few creeks along the way for the pups to get some water, but they seemed to be running a little dry. Park on the side of the road at the entrance.
