Falcon Trail is a 13.1 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near U S A F Academy, CO that offers scenic views and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible from June until September.
Best all around trail in the area, if you live in the Springs area, this trail should be done at least once a month. If you are traveling through then Falcon should be on your to do list. Great climbs and super flowy descents. Trail is very well maintained and is usable pretty much the entire year weather permitting.
Nice day hike!
Trail was very rocky. I would say they is a medium trail. As a beginner at mountain biking I found it very difficult.
Fabulous day to hike this trail! The Air Force Thunderbirds (F16 fighters) were practicing overhead for the graduation air show in a couple of days so gorgeous trails, scenery and jets screaming by was awesome!! Moderate trail, easy to follow, beautiful forest areas, meadows, small creeks, etc. Will definitely do this one again!
On the advice of a friend rode counter - clockwise on Sun 26 Jul. Great ride but definitely a challenge. Trail is well marked. I started at the start/finish defined on alltrails but met several other riders starting from other trail heads. One commented she wanted to go ahead and get the long climb encountered on the clockwise route done early in the ride, this was probably around Pine Rd.
Great trail!! It has a little bit of everything. I wish it was not 15 hours away from my house so I could ride it every weekend. I got winded easily due to the altitude but I still had a blast!!!
Great trail. It is pretty technical and sandy throughout, so running it is certainly not easy. But the views are well worth it and the trail keeps you pretty engaged and entertained. Just need to be aware of your surroundings if running to avoid accidents with bikers. Well worth the drive onto post.
I love this trail. I live on base and I bike it every weekend. it was a pretty tough trail for a new biker but now it is not that bad. a great ride if you get the chance to do it.
I've hiked it and biked it. It is definitely a work out. There is a lot of up hill, but every every foot of uphill you are rewarded with some fun downhill. I rode it clockwise. There is nothing too technical except for one spot. I enjoy this ride.
BEST trail in the springs for Mt biking, great distance, great overall trail for uphill, downhill, technical, views, not to busy. Best to park at the stadium & go clockwise.
This is a pretty good trail, great for a nice day hike with the dog. Very few people were on this trail. The views were amazing, an entire view of beautiful Colorado Springs!
One of my favorite rides in the area. Great training ride!! Ends with a fun rolling downhill if rode the popular direction. Is a must ride.
Sucked!!! A side note of needing air force learning would've been nice!!!
Rode clockwise, 13 miles of great riding. Little to no traffic!
Rode the complete loop clockwise. Great sections of climbs and downhill rollers, with nothing too technical. With the complete loop being 13 miles, it was definitely worth it!
This trail was intense and it felt like it was all up hill. Your very alone on this trail only passed a few people on this 13 mile death ride. Over all great views on several spots of the academy and of north Colorado springs. Enjoy!
