Emerald Mountain Trail is a 1.5 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Estes Park, CO that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and birding and is accessible from March until October.
Overall a great fall hike. The views of the park are great and there was a decent amount of fall color as well. It is very steep and the trail is largely dirt and loose gravel, so there were some spots that were a little dicey. The way down took almost just as long as the way up because of this. Next time I will definitely bring hiking poles. Minimal shade as well so bring plenty of water if it's sunny. Be sure to use the app to find the trail as it branches off the main trail at the 2nd branch point and there isn't a sign m. There is a carin marking this branch point and there are carins all along the trail. Also, the app recorded my one way distance from the east portal parking lot to be 1.1 miles, so a little longer than what is stated in the description of the trail.
Great scenic views and backdrops! Starts fairly easy then as you climb gets pretty steep. I recommend it if you're looking for a moderate hike that's not crowded.
Steep with great views at the summit.
Great views but a steep hike. Short hike so it's moderate. Will go again for the views.
