Elk Run Trail is a 9.8 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Oak Creek, Colorado that features a lake and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from March until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

There are three parking areas on this trail, one at each trail head and one near the middle where there is also a boat ramp. The trail is fairly wide, flat and well maintained. Dogs must be kept on a leash to avoid disturbing wildlife. The trail is wide, fairly flat and well maintained and runs along the south side of the reservoir terminating near the dam on the Yampa river on one side and the junction of CR's 16 and 14 on the other. Day use fee in 2011 is $7 to be paid at a fee station at the parking lot. Make sure you have exact change. Boating is allowed on the reservoir but trailered boats must be inspected before put in. There are boat ramps on both the north and south shores. Dogs are required to be leashed at all times to avoid disturbing wildlife.
