B E A utiful trail. The Maroon Bells and lake are really special. Comin up the trail into the valley to distance yourself from the heavier traffic and it gets better and better!!

We just did a 6 mile out and back day hike. What a beautiful and very quiet trail. It was a dreamy hike. We only saw one couple on our way back. It was awesome!

This was the second leg of a two day back-packing trip. We were able to disperse camp near the base of the trail and hiked all the way back to Aspen. The full hike is closer to 16 or 17 miles, but not a ton of elevation gain and it was completely worth it. This is by far the most beautiful hike I've done in Colorado thus far. It was stunning. There was also a ton of variable terrain, from woods to mountain lakes and a beautiful valley. A few logistics/warnings: There are multiple creek crossings while doing this trail. You can look for ways to cross over felled logs etc., or bring a pair of rubber water shoes/flip-flops and change out of your hiking boots. The water is pretty high and fairly fast moving. Also, as you get closer to the Aspen trail-head, the horse-use gets much heavier and the trail really shows it. Extremely muddy and torn up from horse use.

Awesome trip! Hiked the entire four pass loop (26 miles). Not for the faint of heart, but worth the trip.

One of my favorite hikes in Colorado! You start out at Maroon Lake, awesome in its self, then you walk up past Crater Lake, and then up a valley that has the Maroon Bells on your right side and Pyramid Peak to your left. Wild flowers abound on the way up to East Maroon Pass. The best time for the wildflowers are the first week of August, a little earlier at lower elevations.
