Columbine Open Space is a 2.7 mile loop trail located near Castle Rock, Colorado and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking and is accessible year-round.
Did this hike mid day. There is no shade so bring a hat and plenty of water. Several benches along the way to stop. Even though the hike is relatively easy I would not bring my kids because of the lack of shade and the fact that it is an open space with mostly grass all around would probably bore them. (They're kids after all)
Nice and easy. The directions are not quite right. Go further south and you will see the marker for hikers and the sign for the open space.
Beautiful area south of Castle Rock. Lots of wild life in this area. Snowy this time of year (Feb 2012) A good snow hike/snowshoe hike. Rolling hills, trees and well marked trails.
