Nice workout from mid to upper.... great views!! Lower-end is easy but still beautiful alongside the creek nice and shady.
It seems like there are 2 listings for this trail! Also called North Cheyenne Columbine Trail. The All Trail info for this trail is a little confusing - the entire Columbine Trail from the Starsmore visitor center to the visitor center at Helen Hunt Falls is 4 miles (so 8 miles round trip). There are also portions between mid and upper columbine trail that I would say are moderate. The length and amount of elevation change combined with some tricky loose gravel in some places make this a challenging trail. That said, it is a beautiful hike with a couple of really rewarding overlooks to stop and enjoy the view!
it was a good walk through. .see my review on north cheyenne canon.... reviewed wrong section..spectacular views
Some tough switchbacks up front and a good cardio workout to the top. Take the paved road to the top and ad the Buckhorn loop to the chutes for the classic Cheyenne Canyon ride.
Fairly nice little trail with a steady incline right before Mt. Cutler trail.
