This is a beautiful and popular trail in the Golden, CO area. Be sure to read the sign and map at the trail head because the trail is on an alternating use schedule to accommodate the large number of hikers and bikers. The trail is part of an excellent network of trails in the Apex Park.

Apex trail is a very popular, easy family hike near Denver. The trail is for use by hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians. The trail is easy with great views through out the hike. The trail head is outside the city of golden at the base of the heritage square parking lot. Along the hike you can expect to find a river, the enchanted forest, and a small creek. If you have a lot of time to explore there are a variety of trails that branch off of the apex trail. I hope you enjoy the video.

I created a video of the Apex trail and the Enchanted forest section of the trail.

Offers a few different loop options. The terrain in certain areas is extremely treacherous.....lots of rocks and soft sand making for a slippery surface. Great trail to run. You get a great view of Denver and Golden, but there are not really any fantastic views. This is a "show up, and put out" trail. Most people run it or bike it. If you are like me, and you like to hike fast and get a workout in, you will have to run this one.

Great little hike. I was there two hours an a weekday and only passed one person. The light was beautiful at 9 am. This trail has a great mix of vistas and cool, dark forest floor. It smelled divine.
