i did the zuma ridge trail that was unmaintained. this was difficult only because the way back to the parking lot took forever (inclines). had to calm my buddy down cuz he started feeling lost at one point. plan to start early if youre slow otherwise youll make the ranger wait to close up.
This is a tough trail... i did the 10.6 miles version which is Zuma Ridge trail head (busch dr.) to Edison Rd. to Kanan Edison Rd.. This is the hardest hike I have done in LA so far... It has a fairly steep and steady incline for about 60% of the hike. Actually the only time you aren't on a incline up is when you drop into the canyon for about a mile...Great hike. Hiked it alone. Completed it and felt pretty accomplished
Super sick hike, gets super toasty so bring a lot of water and food, but the view once you get to the height of it is amazing.
Tough hike, no shade, no water (bring your own and a lot of it). We started off the PCH, got a map (not quite accurate), ended up doing about 14 miles (missed a turn somewhere) but great hike. The views of the pacific, Santa Monica mountain ranges, are amazing. Rates moderate to strenuous in some places.
Very tough trail on a MTB. I started at the trail head, and it was relentlessly uphill the entire time. It's a great workout, but it limits you regarding the company you may want to invite. It's much too hardcore for many people I know. I'll probably be riding it alone.
This was a fun trail.only bad thing about it was horse poop, all over the trail. other than that it was a peace full trail
hiked over 10 miles on a loop starting with zuma ridge trail followed by zuma edison rd. Crossed over to kanan edison rd then back to the busch dr. parking area. This is probably the steepest trail in the Santa Monica Mtns. and is a great conditioning hike. Saw very few people along the way which is great for a weekend hike and the views of Catalina Island are superb! Bring lots of water because the trail is mostly exposed with elevation gains & losses exceeding 1800 feet. Zuma Creek is a real delight and a perfect place to stop for lunch.
