Whiskeytown Reservoir Trail is a 5.4 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near French Gulch, California that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and birding and is accessible year-round.
I believe this is the Davis Gulch Trail now. Nice very moderate hike. Lots of poison oak though.
Great trail for hiking with dogs, there are 2 easy spots to access the lake.
The trail was well groomed and pleasant to hike. There were some narrow steep sections but nothing that would be considered hard. I recommend that this trail be taken in the spring, as there would be some nice creeks running from runoff at that time.
