Hiked this Labor Day 2016 with a group of friends. Cool hike with amazing views of Cuyamaca Peak and Stonewall Peak along with other scenic views. We hiked the loop via Airplane Monument Trail and racked up 5.38 miles! Airplane Monument atop was worth the hike to honor the fallen U.S. servicemen
Hiked a lot of this trail and then turned up to Cuyamaca Peak. Very scenic, nice hike.
Nice trail with good views and a lot of wildflowers at the moment. I do want to warn about a large obstacle on the trail. There's a large fallen tree across the trail about half a mile southwest of the Fern Flat Fire Rd. junction. If you're not particularly nimble you may want to detour around this section of the trail. It's only a few tenths of a mile longer to take this detour: going counterclockwise, continue up Fern Flat Fire Rd. to the next junction and take a left on what may be called Fir Trail, but should definitely say "To West Mesa Trail". On a map of park the detour is pretty obvious.
Pretty hike with lots of pretty flowers and lady bugs. Didn't get to summit Cuyamaca peak but I enjoyed the hike.
