Parking for this trailhead can be found at marker 622-1 on the turnoff that normally takes your to Packer Lake. There is a ford at the beginning of this hike. We chose to carry some sandals so that we could walk across the water that was up to our shins in some areas, but for those who don't there is a 15-20 foot fallen down tree on the right of it that you could walk upon. Make sure you have good balance. We went in July and the water level was fine but I can imagine that it would be much stronger and higher during early spring. Its all uphill until you reach the end and it offers a spectacular view of the Sierra Buttes. On the way back, we picnicked on the rocky shore of Volcano Lake. A great little spot. We really enjoyed this hike!
