Lovely cool and cloudy in the early morning then on the way back sunny and a cool breeze. Wonderful hike for early July brown but still beautiful and quiet!
Wait till after the rains, very dry if not.
Easy hike with many different trails to discover. This is a nice one to run. Very little shade though, so bring lots of water and sunscreen. A nice trail to walk your dog. Only complaint is the coyotes. I was confronted with one the last time I was there while walking the dog and it would not stop following us. Other than that, plenty of hikers around and a nice trail to take your kids.
Extremely hot in August with very little shade. Everything looks scorched from the sun Firefighters were up here while on the hike. There was no fire but they were spraying the dirt road down with water.
Great long trail. Good for people who want a serious workout
Very easy hike with a few trials you can take including one that leads up to a cave in the mountain. Was told you can go inside but think that might involve a little rock climbing.
The Victory Trailhead is one of the entrance points to the Upper Las Virgenes Canyon Open Space Preserve. The Victory Trailhead has a junction with two main trails. This is the first trail which goes due east through the Preserve directly to Upper Las Virgenes Canyon and the trails of Cheeseboro/Palo Comado Canyon Park in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. It is mostly a flat hike with nice scenery of the hills.
