This demanding hike was the start of hiking the rest of the Rim Trail this year. We hiked Aug 12-14 starting out from the Kingsbury Grade South trailhead. We're novices and not used to the elevation so we only hiked a couple of miles the first afternoon. The second day we got to Star Lake around 1pm. Such a beautiful small lake. It was the first source of water to filter we had come across. After sitting and enjoying the lake for a while we decided to push ahead and actually made it to Armstrong Pass just before dark. The next day we went the rest of the way to the Big Meadow Trailhead. Everybody we met on the trail inspired us to continue and offered suggestions and insights.
