Way back in the day very few people knew about this place. Then they built the road closer to it and made it a park...unfortunate. It was pristine and definitely clothes optional. It's still a very enjoyable place even with all the people. The last time I was there was 2006 and the friend I was with was talking to a gold panner who didn't wear clothes either. Turns out the guy has a web site as well...

Loved it... Beautiful the cave is super cool, floated thru it a few times. We had a Blast! Water was really cold, but it was amazing. Water shoes n a tube are a must. Bring a lunch an kick back and enjoy the wonder view. Be sure to save some energy to hike back up lol

Decent amount of parking, great trail... Lovely cave and swimming hole in the middle. But sadly, too many people on the weekends, too much trash left behind by careless punks and too many smokers. Makes me sad. Clean your act up Calaveras peeps.

Beautiful trail, fairly easy unless you're walking in the peak of the heat. Bring water and water shoes. The caves are gorgeous, it's like something out of national geographic and it's free! What more could you ask for?

Hike was a bit short. Gets a bit busy during the day but if you go early enough you have the area for yourself. Water was ready cold until you get used to it. but overall nice for beginners like myself.

1.8 rocky descending trail Hot days wear sun block, hat with visor, 1-2 quart of water per person! Bring waterproof camera, flashlight, ( to see walls inside well but not necessary to go through) neoprene beach shoes, bathing suit and inflatable mattress. Please pick up trash including bottle caps Etc!! Water appears clean and water fall and drips from caves ceiling. Also cathedral tall inner chamber is beautiful and cold creek water is refreshing! Water shallow at both entrances but deep in center area. Not a lot of flat area so expect to sit on rocks if not swimming or gliding through cave in inner tube.
