The Mortreros Trail is a 0.6 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Julian, CA that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking and walking and is accessible from October until April.
This trail is really more of a "nature" trail in length than a hike, but is definitely worth the stop due to its cultural and historic value. Since it's so near the Petroglyphs trail, we recommend combining the two. Its close proximity to Highway 78 and the west end of the park makes it a great little stop on your way in our out of Anza Borrego. (Date hiked: April 12, 2009.)
