Sycamore Canyon Falls is a 2.8 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Newbury Park, CA that features a waterfall and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Horses are also able to use this trail.
Views of Boney Mountain, waterfall, deep canyon walls This hike includes breathtaking views of Old Boney Mountain as you leave Satwiwa cultural center area and a pleasant hike down into the steep Sycamore Canyon. The waterfall at the hikes half way point is this highlight. The waterfall is almost 100 foot high and consists of a number of cascades that tumble over shear rock when water flow is high enough. This is a rather spectacular and secluded area. There is a big flat topped boulder that you can sit on to have lunch and watch the waterfall. Watch out for the poison oak near the waterfall as the area is covered with it! $12 Parking Fee
I hiked this trail today for the first time in several years. This was the first time I've ever been here when there was no water coming down the falls! It was still a good hike but probably should be rated moderate instead of easy.
Some nice views. Waterfall is no more as of this past weekend. Definitely bring a hat. This hike is 3.6 miles...or about a mile over what is a listed according to my track.
Enjoyable hike over a variety of terrain. Little shade. Reliable waterfall even in drought.
Enjoyable hike in mostly open terrain. Found water at the falls even when stream beds were dry.
Beautiful views! Great trail for beginners
Not much water at the falls but it was a nice easy walk.
it was a good time. some trails were marked closed but there were enough to open to make it worth while. parking is 12 bucks which sucker but the breath taking views make up for it. the campgrounds are dog friendly but not the trails because they are all marked as no dogs allowed.
Good hike, and not bad for the family. No water at the falls due to the drought, but there are some decent views along the way. Not very challenging.
I love Sycamore Canyon. I am looking for more women who like mountain biking to start a group ride for women. Contact me at email@example.com if you want to meet and ride together.
I've done this trail a few times now and although the waterfall was dried up the first few times, it's still a great beginners trail. However I went right after that good rain we just had and the waterfall is back and flowing! Waterfall was beautiful and nice and clean. Definitely going to wait for rain next time I catch this trail.
Went 10/18/14 hike was nice and generally easy for anyone since. However there is some not much but some damage from the fire 2 years ago. Also due to the drought the waterfall is nothing more then a few algae filled pools. But nonetheless a nice hike with good views.
nice trail but the trail does not look like the picture posted. the scenery is dry.
Nice trails, there are a lot of side trails and different difficulties. Beautiful views. I recently went in November, I think it would be a little better in the spring.
Nice views hills slopes up and down cool senic views bring water for ur conpanions
Great trail! Love the views!
I would not suggest this trail for Mountain Biking. I dont know why its listed on this site as a "Mountain Biking" trail. All the trail signs specifically prohibit cycling. In fact, there were mounted rangers moving cyclists off the trail.
Also the directions are incorrect. There is no "Rancho Sierra" just past Reino Road.
You must turn left at Reino to find the trail heads on West Potrero Rd.
