Great walking and hiking park! You may take either a paved recreational trail that goes from the north entrance on Wetmore Rd. to the south entrance about 5 miles one-way, or nature trails around and along the creek, or hike up into the hills to a picturesque pond or a look-out point above Livermore Valley. Animals sighted are deer, tule elk, bobcats, coyotes, ground squirrels, rabbits, and many birds, including turkeys, red tail hawks, kites, vultures, woodpeckers, hummers, etc. Wildflowers are just starting to bloom. We found the first buttercups this morning on a 3 mile loop hike from the Wetmore entrance up into the hills to the pond. Take the recreational trail over the bridge, then turn right onto an old gravel road. Hike past the ranger residence. Then take another old gravel road on the right up a short steep hill. Follow the road around and past the pond and an old homestead, then back down a gentle decline to return.
