Great view of Strawberry Valley, streams, the lovely San Jacintos This is a beautiful relatively easy (but very uphill) hike through the lush wonders of the San Jacintos. You will enjoy every minute. Suicide Rock is a great place to peer over the edge and contemplate life. You can also wonder what life might have been like for the Cahuilla version of Romeo and Juliet who legend says ended their lives here. The views are standard fare for the San Jacinto Wilderness - that is amazing. You get a great shot across Strawberry Valley at Lily Rock and Tahquitz Peak, and you can take in the heights looking up at Marion Mountain and Jean Peak. Don't miss the short trek to the peak, where there is a register in a smiley face can at the top. Feel free to explore all around the edge of Suicide Rock, there are plenty of viewing platforms, but do be careful near the edge.
Loved this hike. Took all 4 kids (7-15) and this was one of their favorites as well. Beautiful views at the top.
Orange / Green Mossy Rocks
Two Active Streams (January)
View at the top is worth the trek
On a clear day you can see the ocean.
Okaythis hike was more difficult than I expected and let me just say the milage is wrong, it was 8-9miles round trip . Id say this hike is more on the moderate-difficult side. Im a collegiate athlete and even J struggled cause its nearly 4 miles straight up. However the view is worth it! My boyfriend and I had a lot of fun on this hike and the views on the way up/down were just as good as the view at the very top!
The Trail begins at Deer Springs Trail head across the street from the visitor center. It was a good hike. It had just snow so some spots were a little more challenging then others. The views were absolutely breathtaking at the top. Definitely will be doing it again.
Great trail! Saw a male deer up ahead a bit to the side of the trail. Gets windy at the top, so have some warmer clothes. It's a bit icy at some spots, but nothing hiking boots can't take. Amazing views at the top!
I am an experienced hiker and runner and I thought this was more like moderate difficult. I brought a friend with me who is is not as experience as I am and she barely made it up to the top. It is an awesome hike, beautiful all along the way and well worth it. The ascent was fairly steep and the trail was well marked. I will for sure do it again at some point.
