Fun bouldering. Lots of different rock and sizes makes it a bit tricky. Near the base of Seven Falls you can take a rope line up to the main trail. We started about 3pm and parking was easy plus not as crowded. Overall moderate hike, perfect if you only have a couple of hours.
My favorite time to go is in February. I love this kind of rock climbing so we climbed up the stream itself and it was amazing. Short and sweet, great overall workout. I always feel the hardest part is the hike up the residential to get to the hike. If you can't find close parking near the top you are in for a major pre-hike.
March 2016 - there is water!
Good challenging climb. Not kidding when saying Rick hopping on this trail. Glad I made the climb.
Popular hike in Santa Barbara. Parking can be tricky sometimes; you may have to walk 1/2-mile just to get to the trail head! Very fun, you can stick to the trail or some people boulder up along the river.
Seven Falls is great. Me an my dog go straight up the river bed bouldering the whole time. She loves it, she hikes it a bit slower now as she gets older but its a great hike and I don't have to worry about her running like a mad dog around the house afterward. Watch out going when it is dryer there are a lot of mosquitoes, they can get a bit annoying.
This time of year, the falls are gone and the pools are reduced to no more than stagnate green water, BUT - the dry creek bed makes for some fun rock-hopping and bouldering. Would definitely suggest doing this hike in the spring in order to enjoy the falls.
Beautiful views of Santa Barbara and the ocean. Lots of bird species to see. We Spotted red crested Woodpeckers! Awesome sight. Well traveled & well maintained trails.
