The hike itself is beautiful, but I personally struggled as a result of poor preparation. I failed to acclimate at all, and got on the trail at 11 AM...dumb. I would suggest to anyone that is planning on doing this hike to find a way to acclimate--maybe car camp near the trailhead, come from somewhere that is similar elevation, and/or backpack to Monarch Lake and stay the night there and summit in the morning. The road to the trailhead is HORRIBLE..try to avoid coming from the 198.

Went late in Sept. Cloud cover blocked the views but it was still a great Hike
