The trail offers a good workout, the milage is short, but the grade is steep. After a mellow 0.3-mile walk on the Mt. Wilson Road to the start of the trail, the next 1.8 miles consist of several dozen switchbacks going up. In this section the trail is quite narrow and has steep drop-offs along the leaf-strewn slope. At mile 2.1 the trail tops out at an old paved road that leads to the Mt. Disappointment, turn left on this road. After 100 yards there is a sharp switchback to the right, you go straight. The path descends a bit through oaks and then begins a steep ascent to the summit, 400 feet in less than a half mile.
