Ridge Trail is a 7 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Big Sur, CA that features a river. The trail is rated as moderate and primarily used for hiking.
A wide trail that leads to a beautiful overlook with views of the Pacific and the Santa Lucia Mountains. The trail is pretty shaded--a good uphill hike and back down with a rewarding final overlook of the Pacific and the Santa Lucia Mountains. If you don't mind adding an extra couples of miles, the loop trail is recommended (instead of taking the Ridge Trail back, take the Panorama Trail down to the Bluffs Trail) for some great bluffs and beach views. To get to the Ridge Trail, take the Beach Trail (or River Trail--but the Beach Trail is more pleasant for pedestrians and has nicer views) from the parking lot trailhead.
Wonderful! Beautiful views and a nice shaded path up and back, though I personally prefer making this a loop trail with the Panorama and Bluffs trail instead of just going back on the Ridge Trail--you get a nicer variety of views. Either way, you're in for a great day and a great workout!
