off road driving
Nice drive as you get further into it. Part of it is closed during the winter months, so be prepared for that. Some sections were not well maintained, so definitely consider this one "off roading", and leave your sedan at home.
Nice drive and very scenic route. Easy drive... So it's great if that's what you're looking for. It was our first time out with our new jeep and it was great practice. Kids loved it. Next time we'll probably drive down to the Isabella / Kernville area and check out Kern River Brewing Company before heading back into town. Or, maybe we'll camp out and piggyback a Sherman pass run...
Nice day drive.
Great road trip. Road was in really good shape.
Paved and dirt road that leads to Glenville and Evans Flat Campground. Easy drive, great scenery and quail hunting at the top! Fun weekend drive for any high clearance vehicle.
Pretty mild Jeep trail. More like a dirt road. Some bikes and some motorcycles. Watch for kids and ranchers on the roads. Once you get into Park (about 5 miles?) gets better scenery.
Super easy road, drive your Honda Civic easy. Still fun way to get from Bakersfield to Lake Isabella off road though. Evans Flat Campground is real nice and you can ride your ATV's or other OHV's from there to Keyesville. Winter 4x4ing is great with mud and snow!
Also when you get up to Alta Sierra there is a ski lodge and a great restaurant in the little town.
Only words of caution are;
during the winter the road is closed by snow
there are many side roads that lead to private property or other towns so try to stay on the main fire road
Great road for a family ride on the weekend my one year old had a blast I would recommend this road for a easy off road trip with great scenic route
