Fun, urban hike - make sure to stop by Crissy Field and look for sea lions!
A gem! Be sure to stop in at the Legion of Honor museum and catch the awesome collection of Rodin sculpture, or even a musical act in the theater in the basement.
The Presidio is full of trails that lead you on an adventure through many different settings. You'll go through a forest, a cemetery, a military base, and the coast.
I went to the tourist information center and got a great map of all the trails. I ended up taking the intermediate trail, over 6 miles around the park and coast. I think it was labeled as intermediate mostly due to the length.
Make sure to check out the Spire, Lover's Lane, the cemetery overlook, immigrant overlook, Marshall beach, and if you're up for it the Lyon st steps.
You can spend a whole day here easily!
Interesting place! it's the original Military Academy in San Francisco. The landscape grounds are well maintained and complements the foreground quite well, you'll enjoy a pleasant walk similar to a park at this historical place. Midway you can actually walk to the Exploratorium and relax by the lake.
The scenery and history were amazing, but this walk was special to me since I served in the Army when several people I knew were stationed here for language school. What a place to go to school! But I guess getting having to get drafted to get there put a damper on the experience for some. We supplemented the walk with a drive. The hills are surprisingly wearing.
