Pleasanton Ridge Trail is a 6.4 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Sunol, CA that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as difficult. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs and horses are also able to use this trail.
Pleasanton Ridge Regional Park is an often overlooked getaway from the seemingly never-ending suburbs that fringe the San Francisco Bay Area. This hike from the Foothills Staging Area is an excellent introduction to the park: long enough to get your heart rate up, but not nearly as arduous as some hikes in the nearby hills. Once you hike up to the ridge, you meander up and down with far-reaching views of the nearby scenery, including Mount Diablo and the San Francisco Bay. Once nice amenity: a smattering of water spigots to refill your water bottle. And a surprise: The hike passes through a grove of olive trees planted when a local rancher owned the land. Note this park is popular with mountain bikers, so keep an eye out.
Pretty good hike especially in the back where there are less people. Great area to let your dog out for a run.
A good workout.
Can go at any pace!
We hiked as a Meetup group, from the Woodland trail to the Ridgeline trail and then looped back on the Thermalito trail. From there we then followed the Oak Tree trail and back to the staging area. This was a pleasant and invigorating 7 miles (3 hour) hike, with elevation of 1,378 feet, overlooking Pleasanton and the Livermore Valley.
Trails can be busy the closer you are to the parking lot. As soon as you get further away the trails become tougher and you become more secluded. Well worth it to make it all the way.
Great! Just a short hike with the hubs but we both enjoyed the oaks and giant sycamore trees!
steep hike. noisy because of the 680 highway and the planes on their way down to Oakland. nice view of the east with mount Diablo. in the north east
Great hike with beautiful scenery!
It was a great hike! Absolutely beautiful and highly recommend it!! Dogs okay on trail on or off leash. It was challenging but the view was amazing! I'll definitely hike this trail again especially now that it's so green and lush.
Absolutely worth it! Came in the morning and had a great hike.
Great place. Amazing trees.
Nice park with pretty views. Watch your step (lots of cows, and some people are irresponsible and do not pick up their dog pooh). Worth the time.
Hiked in past turtle pond and ran back. Next time I will run in to start. Pretty trails that are challenging and well worth the time.
