Driving by Big Horn in Palm Desert is a nice area because the landscapes are well kept along both sides of the street. When you ascend and snake up that winding road stop at Vista Point for a few minutes to see the horizon. You owe it to yourself! The rest of the cruise through Garner Valley then Mountain Center is pretty scenic and only improves as you get closer to Idyllwild as you see the transformation occur before your eyes from Desert landscape to Pine Forest. One of the best cruise, specially on a Sunday to get away from the desert heat for a few hours. The 20 degrees difference is an experience. Makes you want to roll your windows down and stick your hand out to feel the cool air like when we were kids! :)
Fun twisty road from the desert bottom, through the mountains, and out to the coast. Great scenic variations!
