Orcutt Ranch is perfect for an easy stroll on a Sunday morning. It's a nice place to bring children and dogs. The bathrooms are very clean. Parking is easy. It was pleasantly quiet at around 10am on a Sunday morning. There is a footpath that goes winding through and around the orchard. I saw a lot of different types of trees besides the fruit trees, and a dry creek bed. There is a picnic area. There are also benches to sit on, and a few small gazebos set into the middle of the woods. It's a very pretty place.
This is really more of a walk than a hike. You can get in about a mile if you stick to the outside perimeter. The outside perimeter is also better for people walking on weekends when there are often more formal events like weddings in the interior buildings and gardens. Orcutt Ranch is a working orchard so there is a lot of shade. You may come across a symbol that looks like a swastika on one of the monuments. The ranch construction and these monuments pre-date World War II and Nazis. It's a native American symbol.
