Old Haul Road is a 16.6 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near La Honda, California that features a river and is rated as difficult. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, and camping and is accessible year-round.
The Old Haul Road is an old service road that is now a nice wide trail. Access to the Old Haul Road in Pescadero County Park is via the Service Road (one mile). Turn right (west) for a five-mile ride through the redwoods to Memorial County Park. Return by the same route (10-mile round-trip dirt road).
Most of this trail follows an old rail bed, so except for near the trail head it is very easily graded (and just a few hills at the start otherwise). There is a spur trail that will take you into Portola SP near the HQ. The trail Is good for hiking running and beginner MTB. I have seen wild pigs on the trail.
Great ride with good climbs for the intermediate rider but not too much for the beginner in most cases. Lots of shade for hot summer days and doesn't get too sloppy in the rain. Trailhead is near Pescadero Creek Rd and Wurr Rd.
