Someone out there doesn't want you to hike this trail! It was very difficult to find and even once we found it, we didn't feel comfortable proceeding because the trail looked like someone was making attempts to hide it, i.e.: putting logs and piles of wood down, placing tons of "Keep out!" signs. Save yourself the time and effort and find another trail. This one isn't worth the hassle.
Find a different hike, lake arrowhead has no shortage of beautiful trails without the hassle of walking through private property.
Don't follow these directions from Google maps. it leads you to a private road with no entry! frustrating!
Warning! This trail is on private land and people are protective. You have to walk through a private gate just to get to the trail head.
This trail is very nice and peaceful. Just be aware that the trailhead is kind of difficult to find. The trailhead is on private property (or that's what the signs would have you believe). We passed at least 6 signs that said private property, no trespassing, you are being recorded, and other intense sounding threats. A few of the signs had fierce looking bears on them which was a clear warning that the homeowners have attack bears and are not afraid to use them.
We were going to leave because of all this until we asked a local guy walking his dogs if he knew where it was. He told us we would be fine, and if anybody gave us an issue we should tell them we were his friends. So when we saw an elderly couple on the trail and they said "you don't look familiar" we told them about our long time pal who lives down the street. They said it was fine, and that we didn't look like a problem. Then they asked us if we saw anyone on an ATV and if we did to give 'em hell about driving on their nature path. We said we would, and we parted ways with a smile and wave.
From then on the trail was wonderful. Nice and shady under the cover of the pines. There were lots of flowers out, and they looked amazing across the valleys.
I don't know that I can recommend this trail as it was a hassle, but if you're down for a little adventure it's worth it.
If you're just looking for a normal day hike I'd find a different spot.
Great views at the top
