We came in to this hike via Santa Ynez trailhead (Palisades via Vereda de la Montura), not Musch Trail. It was nice! Lots of streams to cross. Beautiful views. Steady incline. Eagle Rock was wonderful. Really enjoyed this hike.
Great hike with gorgeous views of the city from atop Eagle Rock. Nice, open areas, meadows, clean, plenty of free parking. Watch for bicyclists on the trail as sometimes, they zoom by pretty fast. Also watch for snakes and mountain lions - we've seen both. Our hike was almost 9 miles R/T but you can keep on going and going.
Great views from the top of Eagle Rock, though it's a bummer that people have defaced parts of it with graffiti. Not too strenuous.
just after a week of rain, the trail was a beautiful mossy green with great views up top. A good sweat too. The deer was a nice surprise. I appreciate a trail with bathrooms at the beginning with maps and decent markings to guide you.
Somewhat tricky, but so worth it! Beautiful rock with stunning 360 views from Malibu, to Topanga, to the Valley, and to Pacific Palisades. Perfect for a good workout with great rewards.

I hope this post helps people find this campsite, since it was difficult for me.
It's right off the pacific coast highway about 5 miles. Take topanga canyon road then entrada way. Even once you get to the trail head/parking lot there still isn't too much info.
But if you start on the musch trail, it is paved at the beginning, then you'll go up 75-100 yards and then take a right on to a dirt hiking trail. This will take you up into the park a ways until you come to a T on the trail. On the right there is a sign that says "musch meadow trail." Go to the right for about 100 yards until you get to the bathrooms that serve the campground. The place is used for horses so you'll see a couple corrals by the sites. The whole hike is 1 mile from start to finish. Takes about 20 minutes.
The campsite is first come, first serve. There are 6 sites. The number of each site is on a flat number on each picnic table. $7 a night, no more than 3 nights. Bring exact change. Plus $10 for day use fee that is payed at the parking lot. The Rangers do check.
Perfect place to stay for cheap and still hit up the beach every day.
Well maintained trail that will give you a good workout. I start at Eagle Rock (fairly wide trail, quite a few fitness peeps going up and down) and it's a steady incline up to Musch Trail - you can choose to continue up Eagle Rock to the top for some beautiful views and go up and back, but I like to take Musch trail going down, it's narrower and offers a bit of shade and less traffic. This is a fun loop hike, but try to go early on hotter days as there's not much coverage. Adults and kids can do this trail. Parking is free if you can find it on the residential streets, otherwise it's $7-$10 in the parking lots.
Well maintained trail took advantage of the shaded chaparral and went up to the Eagle rock which provided a panoramic view !!! read people's inspirational notes or write yours to be shared
make sure you make it up to Eagle Rock, just past the end of the marked trail...
