The wide trail/road is a pleasant easy shaded hike for 2.8 miles. You do see some nice views of San Jose below. This trip, there was a bonanza of wildflowers. The wild iris's were everywhere. At the junction of Woods road and Barlow road, we turned left. If you continued straight, you would have gone to Mt. Sombroso. Barlow road is quite steep at first, but does moderate in ascent later on. At Mt. Umunhum road, turn left to go down about a 1/2 mile to the trail head of Bald Mountain. A short .7 mile relatively flat hike puts you to the summit of Bald Mountain with a great view of the area.
