This is a great, challenging trail. Make sure to bring plenty of water. Recommend to wear long pants as opposed to shorts, as there is a lot of brush that grows onto the trail. Also, there are a few points along the trail that do not have markers, so it can get a little confusing. Google maps is pretty good with showing you the right way to go.
Dry, little loose, but trails are clear and clean- well maintained
VIDEO OF THE ROUTE
It's a a good starting point to start to get into some longer distance hikes.
VERY hard, but worth the work when you get to the top. You'll see over the Verdugos to Catalina and the whole coast and metro. It's pretty spectacular. Start early and try to go on a not insanely hot day because there really is no tree cover on this trail. This is a true challenge with a real payoff, making you feel (as my friend put it) like the "King of LA" when you're done.
