Surprises at every turn We took a forked trip to hike the two canyons. One was short, almost too short but in retrospect a way to start experiencing the alive canyons with the spider webs hanging from branches to rocks and filtering the sunlight. Or the pleasant surprised of seeing a small rattle snake on the concrete walkway out of the forest. The early morning hike gave a morning dew filtered light with the coolness of the damp ground. Refreshing. The mushrooms and the rocks with the little meadows, and the water falls as well as the creeks provided a sense of wonderment.

this is a easy hike, you don't really need a hiking stick or hiking shoes. alot of shade, it can get busy but there are breaks between hikers so you get a few moments of solitude and you end the hike at small but beautiful falls where you can rest and eat a small snack this hike is not a loop.

From the nature center, you have two trailheads: 1) Going to the dam and 2) Going to the waterfall. Each is about 1.5 miles. Relative easy and pleasant for most hikers.

i have done both the trail to the waterfall, which was quite easy and the trip up past the boy scout camp. The first 1 mile of the trail is on a paved road and is kind of steep. But just past the camps entrance the road becomes dirt then a small trail. There is water along most of the trail and it is also shaded for most of the 3.5 miles which is nice in the summer. You have to finish hiking by 5 o'clock or else you may get locked in the park.
