Mission Creek Preserve Trail is a 17.4 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Desert Hot Springs, California that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

The road / trail is about 1.6 miles from the locked gate. Just past the gate there are 4 old buildings that have been converted to picnic areas. Follow the trail all the way to the stonehouse. The house is very well maintained and has tones of info. There is a restroom with running water. The trail runs along the creek for most of the way. Hundreds of birds and many forms of wildlife.
One of the best trails in the Coachella Valley. It's best to have a permit so you can park behind the gate. In winter it's lush, the creek is flowing, wildflowers are abundant and birds are everywhere. The payoff is at the end where you can overlook Whitewater Canyon.
Very short but one of my absolute favorite places to go. It's not really a trail, more like a road, but it's a beautiful hike. Park at the gate, and follow the road 1.6 miles to the stonehouse. You will pass a wetlands area with hundreds of birds chirping, and the creek running. The stonehouse is an awesome spot to sit and relax and just enjoy the beautiful views and maybe picnic.
