Maguire Peaks Loop Trail is a 5 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Sunol, CA that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

Hike Maguire Peaks Loop and you might be lucky enough to see the herd of Tule Elks. Located in the northwest corner of Sunol Regional Wilderness, Maguire Peak is one of the least visited area in this popular hiking ground. This easy 4.7 miles hike provides great solitude and nice views on San Antonio Reservoir for hikers. If you are lucky enough, you might be able to see the herd of Tule Elks wandering somewhere near the reservoir. To get to the trail head, drive 0.7 miles on Welch Creek Road from the junction with Calaveras Road until you see the gate with a small parking lot on your left side. The gate is marked SO12.
