The hike from White Wolf to Lukens Lake was fantastic. Unbelievable number of wildflowers along the way. Trail well marked and it is an easy climb. Even though Tuolumne Meadows and Valley Floor were very crowded, we hardly ran into anybody on this trail in mid July. The lake is beautiful and went swimming. Water a bit chilly but very tolerable.
Lukens Lake is a nice moderate day hike that is accessible from highway 120 not far from Tioga Pass or from the White Wolf campground. Wildlife is also abundant in the area. The trail from White Wolf to Lukens and on to Highway 120 and back registers 7.86 miles total if anyone wants a longer day hike.
Very nice trail for most people. It's better since they cleared the trail a little better so it's most established. Swimming at lukens lake in your skivvies is super fun and COLD!
Very good hike for most ability levels. The trail winds through thick forest, meadows and over creeks. The lake itself is beautiful and the area at the top of the trail is flat. Take a seat on a log and grab a bite to eat before heading back.
