This trail is the Carlsbad sea wall, and it is extremely popular with local residence. You have the beach on one side and the coast Hiway on the other with street parking along the trail. Nice place to walk on a sunny San Diego day, but don't expect to be the only person there.
This beach walk is actually in the quaint Carlsbad Village area, with restaurants, shopping, etc. It's magnificent on a clear day at sunset :)
This is not the trail commonly associated as La Costa, which is also in Carlsbad, but just off Rancho Santa Fe and offers quite a few trails in a relatively small area. Known most for the mt bike trail Nascar/Drop Down Trail which is a great technical trail.
