Nice place to have a picnic and a short walk
Sorry these are tailing wheels, not water wheels. They were used to remove the tailings from the hard rock gold mining once all the rock had gone through the stamping mill. They were closed down during world war two, as all mining was suspended by the federal government. 2 of the 4 wheels have been standing, out in the open for over 70 years. One is now enclosed in a plexi-glass building, on the original footprint of the building that once held these magnificent wonders. It's free and worth your while to take a look.
