Kaweah River Trail is a 22.7 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Sequoia National Park, California that features a river and is only recommended for very experienced adventurers. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Horses are also able to use this trail.
This multiday backpack trip up Kaweah Canyon offers inspiring views of the Great Western Divide and makes an ideal off-season excursion. The trail is well maintained, but Moro, Panther, and Mehrten Creeks are not bridged and must be forded. This can be very dangerous during periods of heavy runoff during winter and spring.
