Great hike! Pretty steep at times but seeing Showers Lake is worth the climb.

Beautiful hike! A little challenging with some steep climbing but it's all worth it when you get to Showers Lake. Go up to the rocks by the trail to Echo Summit for breathtaking views and a glimpse of Lake Tahoe.

For sheer ratio of reward to effort, this hike rocks. The wild flowers in mid July were stunning. After a steep and sunny, but short, climb at mile 1.5 you are rewarded by views of distant Tahoe, then a flat walk through the valley of wildflowers. The last half mile up to Showers was another little climb, this one partly shaded, and the lake is pretty with many nice camp sites. Dog had an awesome time.
