Hirz Bay Campground Trail is a 3 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Lakehead, California that features a lake and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking and trail running and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
The trail has some great views and dogs are welcome. It's not well marked or maintained and there's lots of poison oak so be careful. There are a couple of spots where it can be confusing to follow the trail; just after the start from Hirz Bay campground stay to the left rather than going down toward the lake also about midway take the switchback and go up the hill instead of gong toward the lake. Nice shade on a summer day though and there are restrooms and water at the campground.
