This is a short and easy hike to a waterfall. It is a good place for a family to go with the kids. The waterfall is best after rain during the winter and early spring. Parking can be tricky though so try and get there early or go mid-week.
Family friendly trail.
Great to bring the dogs! Beautiful
Went in late August. There was no water so we got to climb all the way to the top which was nice. Great hikes for kids.
There are two inclines (if you can call them that) which don't even get your heat pumping.
But it is a nice relaxing walk.
Great views but a bit more challenging for kids than expected.
Nice little hike, but no water this time of year! Wait and go during winter or early spring :)
Pretty awesome; took the kids and everyone had a blast!
Loved this hike. Very easy. Took mom, kids and dog, falls are so full and beautiful right now. We even had as picnic by the creek
Easy hike...be sure to take a right off the bridge or you'll miss the falls. Good family hike if you have young children.
This trail was great! Wanted to get out on a casual walk with the family and dogs on Christmas and this trail hit the spot! Luckily it had been raining for the past few days and the waterfall was raging. Parking was a little troublesome but well worth it.
It's a QUICK 30 minute hike but was nice. It has a good resting place at the falls and is pretty cool. Completely covered trail with lots of rocks instead of water. Still nice for what I was wanting. Make sure to eat in Fairfax before it after.
Directions: Off 101 in San Rafael take exit (don't quote me) 450B
Sir Francis Drake Blvd, bear R/ heading West for about 6mi till your in Fairfax. Turn L/ on Pacheco, quick R/ on Broadway, then L/ on Bolinas Dr., Bear R/ to Cascade Dr and follow that to the end of the st. you'll come to a gate and trails ahead.
I followed a path pass the falls which brought me to an awesome overlook to the valley and continued more which turned into a game trail. I got spotted by a large coyote so turned around and headed back. Great Beer and Ice Cream in town as well.
I've been on this trail twice. For better directions to a suitable parking spot, try: Cascade Canyon Open Space Preserve, Fairfax, CA 94930. This trail is great, there's a lower walk to the falls, which is nice and cool- well shaded. There's also a more intermediate assent to the summit, less crowded, and makes for an excellent weekend journey.
Had a hard time finding the entrance using another app. Glad this app has good directions to the trailhead. Some parking off the roadway, but not too much.
Good hike - We'd do it again. Creek bed appears dry when you first hike in, then water appears and before you know it, you are at the waterfall. Beautiful. We brought a picnic lunch and had a great time. Partially shaded, so not too hot. Good for beginners - Some incline at times. Saw joggers and mountain bikers on the trail. Stay to the left side and follow the creek and you'll get there.
