Henry Coe, is not for sissies! This is exactly what Cynthia, and the rest of the very helpful staff at the Visitors Center told us before we headed out on our 3 day backpacking trip. They were right. There were 6 of us, all in pretty good shape and by the end of the trip the hills conquered us. The park is a beautiful example of northern California hills, oaks and wildlife. There are small lakes scattered throughout, which we chose as destinations for our campsites each night. We really felt like we were "away" from it all and despite our sore legs very much enjoyed ourselves. We traveled mostly via ridge trails, but took some smaller trails to explore the canyons and to get to the creek. Beware of the poison oak!
