Walk around Empire Mine State Historic Park and explore several smaller abandoned mines and 100 years of mining history Welcome to Empire Mine State Historic Park, home to Empire Mine, which was once the most profitable gold mine in California during the gold rush. This hike will take you around the Empire Mine site and past several smaller mines which were all eventually absorbed as part of the large mining operation at Empire Mine. Along this hike you will see old foundations and rusted machinery covering 100 years of hardrock mining history.
Easy. Nice short loops.
Very nice moderate walk
Beautiful loop. You can see the mine grounds, but can't enter without a fee - although the museum/visitors center is free. Some steep climbs.
Great ride with some good uphill climbs & some great technical riding from beginner to advanced riders
I took my over 50's ladies group up to hike a couple of the trails. We all made it okay but you I have to take into consideration you most definitely are hiking up and down a mountain. The paths are well used/maintained but there is a steep grade. The trails are used by lots of people so they are busy so not a whole lot of peace and quiet. It's nice that there are state maintained restrooms at the mine. Poison oak is on the sides of the trails so watch the kiddos and pets. We will do this trail again.
The Mansion and the grounds are very cool. Multiple loops for hiking as well.
