Come explore this park located in downtown San Jose. The trail follows along the greenbelt of the Guadalupe River. Get out of the office and see the Heritage Rose Garden and other downtown San Jose attractions A paved trail along the Guadalupe River in downtown San Jose, California, might be just what you need to work off some stress or even ride your bike to work. The Guadalupe River Park starts near the Children's Discovery Museum at the south end of Downtown San Jose and runs northward for 2.5 miles to Interstate 880. It's easily accessible via the Valley Transit Agency's Light Rail and has entrances along all the major cross streets downtown. Highlights: * San Jose Heritage Rose Garden at Taylor and Spring streets has an impressive range of rose species whose colors burst on the scene every spring. * The Veterans Memorial along Park Avenue offers a poignant reminder of the costs of war; the morning sun shining through the monument casts ghostly shadows on the sidewalk. A moving experience for a city better known for its relationship to the tech world. * Children's Discovery Museum is full of kid-centric exhibits, and neighboring Discovery Meadow is often a site of downtown concerts and festivals. You'll also have chances for bird watching and, of course, people watching along the way. The trail surface is mostly paved and entirely flat. Ambitious walkers (and, more likely, bike riders) can take the trail all the way to the southern edge of San Francisco Bay.
homeless people lined the trail I had to stop when we seen filthy underwear n broken glass
It is one of my favorite for jogging and bilking. I think it is really good trail for training half marathon.
Nice easy hike.
It's a beautiful park, beautiful trees and flowers, the river is clean and it's very well maintained in general. I'm there often!!
Not bad, but not well marked - lots of simultaneous paths without clear markers if one is preferred for bikes or ped. Stroller accessible, all paved. Lots of benches and small tables.....can be followed all the way to the airport and likely beyond. Some construction as of Jan 2015, and lots of plane/car noise. (Can be a plus if you have a child who loves planes and cars)
Not bad if you're traveling, need a spot to run, and don't have a lot of time for a commute out of the city. This is definitely a cityscape trail but you can head further north towards the Airport for a bit more grass and trees.
City trail - goes on way past airport 10 miles or so - easy lots of homeless in underpass . Nice walking jogging or bike in the city - airplanes overhead most of walk -
How do I download the Trail GPS info if I do not have a Smart Phone and ONLY need the GPS info?
