This is a very good access point to the west side of dirt Mulholland. I hiked out of the trailhead but it is a very easy bike access. It's good for young children being introduced to trail biking because there aren't any real steep sections and usage is much lower than Reseda or the east side of dirt Mulholland. The stats presented are for a very quick and easy hike to Reseda Blvd but you can easily get to the Temescal Canyon Fireroad and all the trails and features it accesses. The views from Mulholland are excellent. To the north you look across the Valley to the Santa Susanna and San Gabriel Mtns. Looking to the south are the peaks and ridges of the Santa Monica Mtns closer to the coast.
Went with 3 kids (ages 4,7,11). The 4 year old got a little tired, so she was carried for a small uphill portion. Overall, a doable hike for kids.
my first time up here and I brought my two sons 8 and 6 years old not to easy for them but not too difficult
Just did this trail again after some rain over the weekend. This section of Mulholland stood up to the rain very well. There was one short section of standing water but there still was a dry path around the mud. As expected the panoramic views were very nice. Photos don't really do the view justice. A few batches of wildflowers. There were a lot of belly flowers (flowers you need to get down on your belly to really see). They did cover good sized areas but are so small that they just add some color to the grass.
